“WATER THE MIND”
Name of program: Water the Mind
Topic: Clean water and how to save water
Objectives
Water the Mind is an intensive program designed to equip high school students in Phu Tho Province knowledge about water and methods to use water wisely. Through specific topics of water resources, students will understand thoroughly that water plays a very important role in life, but water sources are being contaminated and depleted. The polluted water has caused a number of diseases and a “cancer village" in Phu Tho is the most obvious illustration for this matter.
In the future, the students may face the threat from a lack of clean water because shortage of water has been happening in many places in Vietnam and around the world. However, these students are able to contribute their efforts to change that situation. The lessons in Water the Mind will help them be aware of their role, encourage them to recognize their behaviors, habits of water use and adjust inappropriate ones. The students will practice and encourage their families and communities to use water effectively and protect clean water resources. As a consequence, the program does not only aim to raise awareness of students about water use but also has the power to spread the matter in the community.
